William Comer Sr. better known as Sonnyboy or Wolf, a native of Spartanburg, SC was born March 18, 1948 to the late James B. and Mary Patterson Comer. He departed from his earthly life on Friday, November 18, 2022.

He attended public schools in Spartanburg county. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended several churches in and around Winston Salem, NC including New Zion Baptist Church.

William Comer was employed by Brenner Steel and Vargrave Steel Company for over 35 years until his health declined. Mr. Comer was known for his style of clothes, hats, and love for pictures. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time he loved fixing/building things, yard work, and watching cowboy films, specifically Gun Smoke .

He was preceded in his death by his parents, James B. and Mary Patterson Comer; three brothers, James Comer, Donald Comer, and Willie Lee Comer; three sisters, Mary E. Comer Booker, Francis Jeanette Comer Miller, and Diane Comer Smith.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Comer; one son, William (Renee) Comer of Lewisville, NC; two daughters, Lorraine Comer of Winston Salem, NC, and Tonya Brannon of Winston Salem, NC; one sister, Barbara Jean Kennedy of Spartanburg, SC; one brother-in-law, James Thompson; one sister-in-law, Hattie Jacobs of Pembroke, NC; several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Friday November 25, 2022 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Walkertown, NC. is remains may be viewed Wednesday November 23,2022 from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm at the funeral home.
