Mr. Willie Ray Bostick, aka, "Bro" and "Bar B Q Man" was born May 17, 1940 to the late Adam and Lessi e Bostick in Lake City, South Carolina. Willie attended the Lake City Public schools. He relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1962. "Bro." was employed at the Thomasville Furniture Company for a few years and then at Winston Salem Sanitation until retirement. Willie loved to cook and got the name "Bar B Q Man". He was an inspiration to the community by feeding and giving lodgin to many that needed assistance. He will truly be missed.
In 1962, Willie met the love of his life Mary E. Queen and together they had four daughters. Latonya, Williete, Velicia, Sheryre. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bostick, daughter, Latonya Bostick, grandson Christopher Campbell, four brothers and two sisters.
He leaves not to mourn, but cherish memories, three daughters. Willette (Tim) Smith, Velicia(Michael) Pender, Sheryre(Christopher) Campbell all of the city; one son, Sam Cooper of Lake City, SC; three granddaughters, Nakeisha (William) Mitchell, Tierra (Rico) Burgess and Kayla (Charles) Hairston all of the city; three grandsons, Antoine Bostick, Kailin Galloway both of the city and Lorrell Daniels of Lake City, SC; twenty five great grandchildren; four sisters, Ruby Bostick, Marie Hannah, Lessie(Jimmy) Johnson and Ivadee Singletary all of Lake City, SC; three brothers, Adam Jr.(Lorene) Bostick of Baltimore, MD, Forman Bostick of Miami, FL and Simon Bostick of Middletown Conn; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law all of the city; two special friends/daughters, Felicia(Trevor) Brown and Ilyse (Ty) Turner ; two devoted friends, Lester Smith and Wilbert Thompson.
A homegoing celebration will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday December 13, 2022 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-12:00pm at the church Tuesday. His remains may be viewed Monday December 12, 2022 from 12pm-6pm at Hooper Funeral Home.
