Obituary

Willie B. Singletary slipped from time to eternity on Saturday, December 27, 2020.

She was born on August 25, 1931 as the second of thirteen children born to the late Elizan Eaddy Williams and Derrick Lawrence Williams in the St. Paul community of Florence County, South Carolina. After her marriage to Levi Singletary, Sr. she moved to Winston- Salem, NC to raise her growing family. The couple was blessed with five children: Shelley, Levi Jr., Levern, Verna and Cecilia.

Willie B. accepted Christ at a very early age and committed her life to living her faith and ensuring her children were raised knowing the power of prayer. She was a faithful member of Union Bethel A.M.E. Church for over forty years. There she served in many ministries. At her death, she was a member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church, where her nephew Rev. William C. Brown is pastor.

Sister or Flossie, as she was called by her many family and friends, lived a full life as a devoted mother and homemaker. She adored her mother and they shared a special relationship centered around their love for God, cooking and their families.

Being Granny to her grandchildren and great grandchildren was the joy of her life. She was passionate about and proud of each of them. Evening meals and Sunday dinners at Granny's house were always filled with food prepared with love and a lesson. Those lessons of how to serve, how to be faithful, how to give, how to sit quietly when all around was chaos, how to love in the middle of hate and the importance of education has served her grandchildren and all who knew here well.

She loved to cook and kept an immaculate house. She will be forever remembered for her commitment to doing right, having a caring heart, a generous spirit, and unconditional love.

She is predeceased by her father, Derrick Lawrence Williams; her beloved mother, Elizan Eaddy Williams; husband Levi Singletary Sr.; sister, Verna Mae Williams; brothers, Jessie, Derrick Jr, and Rev. Henry Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories her five loving children: Shelley Collins (Leroy), Levi Singletary, Jr. (Veleria), Levern Singletary (Mary), Verna Singletary and her baby, Cecilia Singletary all of Winston - Salem, NC; ten grandchildren: Rhonda M Collins, Tonya Collins -Miller (John), Chaka Singletary, Corey Singletary, Christopher Singletary, Elisha Oliver, Delwann Singletary, Vanessa Little (Trent) and Von Bethea (Yolanda), eighteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; four sisters: Alberta W. Brown, Jannie Funderbuk, Eliza W. Spates, Luvenia Williams, Lillie W. Thornton; three brothers: Rev. Dr Hubert Williams ( Rev. Lula), Jacob Williams (Cynthia), and Alfonza Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and continue her legacy of faith and love. We find comfort that she is in heaven with her Savior and reunited with her mother.
