Mr. Willie Thomas Witherspoon was born April 2, 1929 to Willie and Daisy Witherspoon of Lancaster, SC. Thomas was educated in Lancaster SC and later moved to Winston-Salem. He enlisted in the United States Army for 2 years.

After returning from the Army he met the love of his life Lena and with this union were 5 children. Thomas worked for RJ Reynolds for 39 years. He worked many part time jobs after retiring such as Kings Dept Store, the Coliseum and the hotel near the mall. He loved working and keeping busy. He also loved taking pictures. At  his home he had a picture wall with old and new pictures. You were sure to find your picture somewhere on the wall. He was known as the family photographer.

Thomas was preceded in death by three children, Willie Witherspoon Jr., Scollett Witherspoon and Diane Harrison. He departed this life Thursday January 21, 2021 at Trinity Glen Nursing Home.

Willie better known as Thomas is survived by his wife of 68 years Lena Witherspoon; a daughter Sandra Banner of the city; a son, Jerry of the city; a grandson Melvin of the home; sister-in-law, Mary Witherspoon of Lancaster SC, brother- in- law, Roland Ingram (Mary) of the city.

The family is grateful and thankful for the care provided by Trinity Glen Nursing Home where he spent the last few years. Also special thanks goes to Keisha Wilson, Kenjetta Driver and Veronica (Ronnie) Conner for their devotion and dedication to the family

Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Friday January 29, 2021at Evergreen Cemetery. A public viewing will be held Thursday from 12pm-6pm at Hooper Funeral Home.
