Wilma Lee Howard was born January 10, 1932 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late Lawson and Martha Cowan Howard. She attended the public schools of Winston-Salem and was a 1954 graduate of Winston Salem Teachers College now Winston-Salem State University.

Ms. Howard relocated to Boston, MA where she resided for over 67 years. She was a retiree of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Boston, MA.

Spiritually, she was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Boston, MA.

In her later years, she moved back to Winston-Salem, NC to be near family.

In addition to her parents,  she was preceded in death by three brothers, Luke Howard, Charles Howard and Theodore Howard.

Ms. Howard departed this life Thursday September 14, 2023 at the Summerstone Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She is survived by a sister, Betty J. Bell; a host of nieces, including a devoted niece, Mona Covington; and host of nephews.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
