Obituary

Mrs. Wyvonia Arethia Jackson Attucks was born December 27, 1952 to the late Alvin Jackson Sr, and Deloris Robinson Jackson in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County public schools and was a 1971 graduate of North Forsyth High School. She was a graduate and proud alumnus of  North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where she majored in Business Administration.

Wyvonia affectionately known as "Wy" was a retiree of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 40 years of service.

Spiritually, she grew up in Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church. After leaving, she became a member of Stokesdale Church of Christ where she served faithfully. Upon returning to Goler Metropolitan she served as an usher and on the finance committee.

In the community, Wyvonia served faithfully in the Masonic order. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Meridian Chapter# 308 Order of the Eastern Star PHA, Past Loyal Lady Ruler of King Solomon's Assembly#64 Order of the Golden Circle PHA, Past Illustrious Commandress of  Sethos Ct.#105 Daughters of the Imperial Court and the Imperial Court throughout the years.

Throughout  Wy's life she enjoyed many hobbies including, traveling and being an avid shopper, especially flea markets. She loved her family and family gatherings. Her family meant everything to her, keeping them together.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Attucks Sr.; sister, Alvonia Jackson Austin, grandmothers, Arerather Morrison and Maude Jackson, great grandmother, Jessie Hunt;and great nephew, Jalik Austin.

Mrs. Attucks departed this life Wednesday July 10, 2024 at her residence.

Her greatest joys  were her family and friends who survive her which include her sisters, Gisele"Cookie" Jackson, Yvette J. Tolliver, Carla J. (Antonio) McCoy and Atheline Bitting; brothers, Reginald(Delane) Jackson and Alvin Jackson Jr. all of Winston-Salem, NC; stepdaughter, Kimberly(Tribute) Williamson of Charlotte, NC; stepson, Reginald (Carla) Attucks II; two granddaughters, Carolyn Williamson and Ellodie Attucks; aunts, Dorothy Robinson and Barbara Benjamin; uncle Curtis(Jewel) Clemons all of Winston-Salem, NC; nieces, LaJessica Austin, Chantea Austin, Danyetta Jackson, Renisha Jackson, Nicole McClurkin; nephews, Reginald Jackson Jr., Billy Tolliver and Carlton McCoy; two brothers-in-law, Richard (Patricia) Attucks of Winston-Salem, NC and Jesse (Joyce) Attucks of Augusta, GA; sister-in-law Carolyn Attucks; a host of special great nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Vanessa Higgins and Veronica Sawyer; a host of other relatives and dear friends including her Philly family.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Saturday July 20, 2024 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-12:00pm at the church. Her remains may be viewed Friday July 19, 2024 from 12pm-6pm at Hooper Funeral Home.
