Mr. Willie John Gamble aka, "Georgia Boy" and "Jay" was born May 27, 1947 in Ocilla, Georgia to the late John Thomas and Carrie Tucker Gamble. He was a resident of Winston-Salem for over 50 years and a retiree of RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after 34 years of service. He was one of twelve children. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James Charlie Gamble. On November 20, 1970 he married Mary Robinson Culbreath and from this union came a son Antonio Maurice Gamble and a daughter, Angelita Robinson. On Monday morning April 6, 2015 he departed this life at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Surviving are his wife of the home Mary Robinson Culbreath Gamble; one son, Antonio M. Gamble of Walkertown, NC; one daughter, Angelita Robinson of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren; Conisha Solomon Canty, Antoine M. Gamble all of Winston-Salem and Lionel R. Robinson(Glacier Sheeley) of Indiana, PA; great grandchildren; Malachi Solomon Canty and Lauren Robinson; siblings, Ida Lee Paulk , and Odessa Merritt both of Ocilla, GA, Charlie James Gamble, of Ocilla, GA, Carrie Bell Bryant of Douglas GA, Samuel (Beverly) Gamble, Willie Mae (James) Cherry all of Winston-Salem, NC, Raymond Rosier of Savannah, GA, Matilda Gordon of Jacksonville, FL and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1:30pm Monday April 13, 2015 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home with Rev. Theartis Dunlap officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-1:30pm at the funeral home.
